Today, the subject of Grace Jones came up, and I just couldn’t resist getting my May Day on. I still vividly remember the first time I saw Grace Jones: I was twelve, and she was presenting a Grammy with Alice Cooper. I was so entranced by her: she was dark and tall and powerful and androgynous and oh my god I wanted to be her. I was already completely in love with Annie Lennox, with her cropped hair and her suits and her occasional full-on drag — discovering Grace Jones was just like, oh, wow, there are more like that.
And then, of course, there’s View to a Kill. How could that have failed to be the best Bond movie ever? I mean, it had Christopher fucking Walken as its villain. Was there ever a man born to play a Bond villain more than Walken? And it had Grace Jones. And it had the best Bond theme song ever (shut up, I do not want to hear it, that is the best Bond song ever). And then fucking Roger Moore had to stroll in and screw it up. And that atrocious 80s bimbo, and…ugh, I just can’t. Let’s just pretend that only Walken and Jones exist, and it’s a perfect, awesome movie with a great theme song.
Oh. I forgot to mention Second Life. I’m wearing clothes, you guys! Epicosity is a mesh menswear store that opened in June and has been putting out designs at FAMESHED and Vintage Fair and whatnot. Their trousers don’t fit women’s shapes well, but their jackets and sweaters fit quite nicely if you don’t mind a broader shoulder and flatter chest than you’re used to. The quality is gorgeous, and they include lots of options with each piece, which is nice. Also, these leather pants from 1 bad pixel have become a wardrobe staple: they’re so damn sexy I just don’t know what to do with myself. They give my avatar booty, you guys.
